PIANIST.
BIOGRAPHY.
Pianist and Musical Director, Kevin Wu, is a spirited collaborator in the worlds of classical music, musical theater, and dance. He works regularly with musicians in his home base of Tampa, FL, performing recitals and concerts in venues reaching Orlando and Sarasota, as well as on WUSF 89.3 Classical Radio Station. In 2016 he joined the Centennial World Tour of West Side Story, which took him throughout Europe and to his hometown of Hong Kong. He received critical acclaim for his work as a music director in Crazy For You, and has collaborated on a span of projects with celebrated artists ranging from Andrea Bocelli to Deborah Cox. His other musical theater credits include: Ragtime, Evita, Josephine (world premiere), Oklahoma!, Sweeney Todd, and Legally Blonde.

After moving to Las Vegas at the age of twelve, Wu earned top prizes in many competitions, including first prizes in the Silver State Competition, and in the first International Pianoteams Competition. He was also an avid flutist, winning first chair in All-State and Regional Bands, playing with the ASTA National Honor Orchestra, and earning a college scholarship from the Las Vegas Philharmonic.
He graduated with honors from Carnegie Mellon University, receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Piano Performance with a minor in Chinese Studies and a certificate in Piano Pedagogy. He continued his studies at the University of Southern California, earning a Master of Music in Piano Performance, and a second M.M. from University of South Florida in Chamber Music. His summer studies have taken him to the Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music in New Hampshire, and Chautauqua Music Festival in New York where he met his mentor, Rebecca Penneys. His other principle teachers include: Michele Le, Sergey Schepkin, Norman Krieger, and Svetozar Ivanov.
Wu began teaching at CMU's Music Preparatory School, which fostered his commitment to helping the next generation find their voice at the piano. He currently teaches at Patel Conservatory and maintains his own private studio in Tampa, FL. For inquiries please visit the contact page.
